One audience that's among the most difficult to reach using — of all things — advertising is — of all people — those who work creating advertising for a living. Along with their design firm brethren, these mostly twenty- and thirty-something professionals are on the leading edge of the flight from traditional media. Newspaper ads won't work to reach them, radio is no match for iPods, and TV, and, if you can manage to have your spot escape TIVO-enabled zapping, TV is simply too expensive. At least it is for the School of VIsual Concepts. So, starting in 2009, the School started sending out the well-designed, humorous (we hope), posters Worker Bees created and hand-printed by Nashville's esteemed Hatch Show Print. The posters are mailed to agencies and design firms with a plea to hang them in break rooms and gathering spots. Since the poster program started, SVC notched two of its largest quarters in the School's history. Coincidence? Probably, but the posters are definitely generating some buzz.
